Drewsteignton Fire
On 17th March 2025 a devastating fire took hold in the thatched cottages opposite the pub. What started as a small fire next to a chimney, quickly spread and destroyed a row of ancient thatched cottages owned by the National Trust in the heart of the village. No one was hurt but it was an extremely shocking and sad moment for residents of the village and all the people who know Drewsteignton and are very fond of it.

Now begins the process of coming to terms with the devastation, and then rebuilding these historical cottages to their former glory. The Drewsteignton Community Benefit Society that owns the Drewe Arms will be working with the Parish Council and the National Trust to get these buildings reinstated as soon as possible.

We are also in touch with everyone directly affected by the fire and are offering all the support we can. Events like this affect different people in different ways and if you or someone you know needs support that we can help with, please let us know.
